Yaptime!

Over the past few weeks, 5280 Agency brand ambassadors have been on the CU Boulder campus promoting Yaptime, a new location-based social networking tool. Yaptime allows Smartphone users to create a virtual "room" where they are, and others can join that room and interact via group texting. The friendly brand ambassadors introduced Yaptime using iPads, and created rooms all over campus and at popular locations in Boulder. They also gave away cool CU Boulder gear and Yaptime t-shirts. Yaptime will make an appearance at the CU football game on Saturday, where users can log on to talk about the game! Check it out on your Smartphone at Yaptime.com!

5280 Agency at Denver's Third Annual Hispanic Marketing Conference

On Sept. 15, 5280 Agency had the opportunity to attend Denver's third annual Hispanic Marketing Conference, held at St. Cajetan’s Center on the Auraria Campus. Young Hispanics are Denver's fastest growing market, and this conference focused on how to effectively reach them.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, two-thirds of the Hispanic population is under 35, and 82% of this group was born in the United States. They are the children of Hispanic immigrants, and most consider themselves bilingual and bicultural. While these Hispanics will become more acculturated over time and over generations, particularly in their purchasing behavior, Latino culture has symbolic meaning for them and they are not likely to leave it behind.

Director of Hispanidad Laura Sonderup used the term "the wink" to describe how advertisers and marketers can reference Latino culture without being stereotypical. One example would be to use a Spanish phrase or cultural reference in an English-language ad.

We were really fortunate to be able to attend this conference and take away a lot of valuable information and insights. The team at 5280 Agency is excited about developing our own Hispanic marketing program as we continue to grow as a full-service agency.

Small Planet E-Vehicles Create Buzz on Denver Streets

Small Planet's electric vehicles are a great solution to beating traffic, reducing pollution and staying in shape. They are also more economical than traditional transportation. For the cost of one gallon of gasoline at around $3.00, you can recharge your electric bike or scooter about 60 times at .05 cents each time. A fully charged battery can take you up to 25 miles. Therefore, 60 x 25 miles = 1,500 miles. Check out the video and see how E-bikes and E-scooters are just too much fun to resist.
